Apple Pie Dip
recipe inspired by: The Kitchy Kitchen
recipe type: to breakfast, to snack, to dip, glutenfree, dairyfree

what you need:
4 to 6 pink lady apples (granny smith or your favorite baking apple is fine), peeled, cored and cut into thin strips
juice of 1 lemon
3 tbsp of coconut sugar - gives a caramely taste, or agave - don't forget the natural sweetness of apples depending on the season.
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 tablespoon unsalted butter
pinch salt
chopped almonds, for garnish

what to do:
As you peel and dice the apples, sprinkle with lemon juice and mix frequently to prevent browning, or toss in iced water with some lemon juice. Place the apples into a large pot on the stove over medium-high heat. Add coconut sugar, 1 cup water, butter and salt. Cook until the moisture evaporates and consistency of the remaining fruit is thicker than preserves, 30 to 35 minutes. Stir often to prevent burning on the bottom. Remove from heat and pour into a serving bowl. Sprinkle with almonds and serve with sliced apples, or anything your heart desires.

by the way
you could easily change the apples for pears!
